Day 100....April 11 - Saturday

A rather eventful day....

Some things that happened:

- Seth was discharged, his Oxygen level has gone up....he did not sleep all night again. He is now at home, sleeping in his own bed.

- Andrew came out for a couple hours.....he took the broken hardware off our back screen door - the plan was for him to find a replacement handle when he went back to town and bring the new one back out tomorrow.....

As we were visiting, Scott called......panic stricken about a fire being out of control..."need help".

We raced over to the Ritchies as quickly as possible to find a grass fire near the garage - Scott was valiantly trying to get it under control, but it was impossible by himself.

Andrew and Jim found something to beat the flames with and joined the fight......I called the fire department then started to bring buckets of water to the fire.....I actually only got one bucket before Melanie pulled in to the yard - thankfully, she had been to town to get water so she just pulled up to the fire, making getting water much easier and soon the fire was under control. I called the fire department back and told them to 'stand down'.

A hockey stick? Hey! It is what he could find in a couple seconds.....it worked! We were very thankful the wind was blowing AWAY from the long grass!

Raking up the smoldering places......

After it was all over, Andrew was pleased that he wasn't even covered with soot.....we all smelled like burned grass, though.

Andrew, going around, pouring water on hot spots....

Later, I went to town for groceries and to check on Seth and Kathryn. They had slept for a few hours just before I got there and Seth, although rather grumpy, is at least not lethargic - he is still getting into things. :D
After the grocery store, I stopped at Rob and Lana's where I was given a shock.......

Lizzy had to get her hair cut after an incident involving her hair and some gum.....the damage was bad enough that cutting it out was not an option. This is the first time Liz's hair has been this short since she was 1 yr old.
You can see she is holding the cut off ponytail in her hand. Her hair was long enough that she could tuck it into the waistband of her pants.
It is a sad day.....even though it does look cute.
