Day 240 Sun. 08 - 30

57 years ago today, Jim Hutchinson Sr and Aryel Wakelin became man and wife.

We took advantage of this fact and the beautiful weather and gathered our family and the Ritchies in Red Deer to celebrate with them in their back yard.

Jim and I made this card/photoboard for them on behalf of the whole family......

We printed the photos large so Mom could see them easily.

Here, they take a trip down memory lane after Jim revealed the 'card'.....

57 years is certainly cause for celebration.

What is the secret to being married for 57 years?

Don't leave. Don't give up. (that is MY advise)

I took a gazillion pictures (what a surprise) and decided to just include these photos above, of the guest of honor - except for this photo that I include simply because it makes me laugh.....

Be sure to click on this one to enlarge it.....you'll smile, too.

Day 217 Thursday August 6

Jim's still not feeling very good, but he was getting a bit of cabin fever so he decided to come with me to town on my mission to get groceries for the weekend.

Before town, though, we took Andrew a jug of water at his worksite.

We came home, unloaded the groceries, and sat down to check our mail, etc. We were both a little tired (we'd done quite alot of shopping - at different stores) and Jim was especially dragging, since he still isn't feeling up to par.
Less than 10 minutes after we sat down, the dogs started barking and we were pleasantly surprised to find we had guests......Mom and Dad Hutch were in the yard, greeting the dogs. Needless to say, we sat down and visited them - getting the lowdown on Dad's appointment in Calgary with the Cardiologists.
Dad and I took a short tour of my garden to discover that the dogs have been enjoying the cabbage! (Emma had told me this before, but I thought she meant they were eating the leaves)

When I went into the house to unpack groceries and make us some supper, I discovered that there was a 'Mini Pansy' growing between the boards of the deck!

This little guy must have grown from a seed that dropped between the boards from one of the flowers that I grew last summer! Cool, eh?
After supper, we started working on our meal preps for the campout. Jim peeled and cooked potatoes. I cooked eggs and made Jello and ........I forget what else I made, but I also did quite a bit of packing so we'd be ready early in the a.m.
Mom helped me peel eggs.

Rob and Lana showed up during all this preparation......they came to pick raspberries so Lana could make a fresh raspberry sauce for pancakes on Saturday morning.

Lizzy helped her mom. They got a full pail of berries.

Robert and Titus stayed inside and visited with Grampa.

A long, busy day.......Mom and Dad went over to visit at Ritchie's for a couple hours after Mel got home then came back to sleep in our spare bed (which THEY put clean sheets on for me). That is something else I did today - laundry and putting clean sheets on both beds.

Day 209 - Wednesday, July 29

Since Jim is no longer working for the time being, we met Vinjelu and Kathryn in Red Deer so that Taliah could meet her Great Grandparents Hutchinson......

Great Grandpa had fun playing with Seth......

Seth ended the day with an ice cream cone.....I think he enjoyed it!

Day 197 ~ Friday, July 17

Since Jim's job is less than an hour away, he is able to be home in the evenings. YAY.

This evening, we went to Ritchie's to help celebrate Scott's 17th birthday.

Here's another peek at Jim's 'new look'.....

Grampa and Gramma Hutch came out to celebrate with Scotty.....

Ken cooked burgers for everyone......

And finally, a different kind of shot of the birthday boy......

day 172. Monday, June 22

We stayed in Rocky last night and used Jim's first 'rain day' to visit Uncle Dale and Mom and Dad. We enjoyed the back yard, in spite of cool weather.

Dad had a hankering for a Dilly Bar so he and Jim went out and picked some up....

We each had TWO! Don't know if I've ever had two Dilly Bars at one sitting. LOL

Day 143....Sunday, May 24

Daniel's birthday....we missed him, but we did get to phone him and talk to him. In the meantime, we celebrated his birthday without his presence.....

Day 142....Saturday, May 23

Jim's mom and dad stayed with us after the graduation ceremonies.

We started the day with Mom's favorite tradition.....sitting on the front step in the sunshine with a cup of coffee....

Later in the day, the Ritchie's came over for a couple hours before they had other grad activities to attend to. It was so nice to sit in the back yard in the sunshine. What was REALLY nice about that was that it was warm and sunny for a change.

After the Ritchies left, Jim and I went to town for some groceries. We came home with a cute little colored boy as well as groceries.
Great Grandma and Seth decided to play ball in the middle of the kitchen floor while Jim and I were trying to get supper. LOL

This little boy provided some enjoyable entertainment for two sets of grandparents all evening.

He kept wanting to give Annie and Taffy some lovin....Annie was quite agreeable to this.....

When the grandparents had pie and ice cream, Seth enjoyed an ice cream cone......

To end the evening, pretty pink and blue sky.....

Day 109; Monday, April 20

Worked hard all morning on finishing up our tax preparation for our corporate taxes (a year late).

During one break, Jim looked out the front window to see Lady sound asleep in the hole beside the step.....the one that leads to the hole in the basement wall (see photo yesterday). I tried to sneak up on her to get a photo of her, but she heard me and started to get up before I could snap the picture.....

The cabbage is up today.....

Here are some progress pictures of the tomatoes.....

and the lettuce....

After meeting with our accountant in Red Deer, we had supper at Mom and Dad Hutchy's house.

(Notice Taffy's 'pillow'. )
